Carboxytherapy Q&A

What is carboxytherapy?

Carboxytherapy is a nonsurgical treatment that Dr. Itskovich uses to infuse carbon dioxide (CO2) into the tissues just beneath your skin. C02 already occurs naturally in your body, so carboxytherapy targets specific areas and expedites oxygen to those regions. This boosts circulation and helps stimulate collagen production, giving you healthier-looking skin.

How does carboxytherapy work?

Unfortunately, the aging process takes a toll on your skin. Circulation often slows, which means less oxygen makes it to your cells, reducing cell turnover and making your skin look dull and wrinkled. During a carboxytherapy session, Dr. Itskovich uses a tank of carbon dioxide and a fine needle to inject CO2 directly under the surface of your skin.

Introducing carbon dioxide makes your body think there’s an oxygen deficiency in that area. It responds by widening your blood vessels and increasing blood flow to that part of your body. This leads to an increase in oxygen, restoring cells and making your skin brighter and tighter.

For instance, carboxytherapy for dark under-eye circles rushes oxygen to the area, accelerating blood flow, provoking cell regeneration, and fast-tracking collagen production. Your dark circles dissipate over time and fine lines and wrinkles recede.

Who can benefit from carboxytherapy?

The team at Brooklyn Aesthetics uses carboxytherapy to help improve the appearance of cellulite, stretch marks, and under-eye circles. The treatment can be applied to your:

  • Eyelids
  • Buttocks
  • Stomach
  • Arms
  • Neck
  • Face
  • Legs

Depending on the area you’re treating, the procedure is quick and typically takes less than 30 minutes. To optimize your results, you’ll need several sessions.

With your goals in mind, the team advises you how far to space each appointment. After five carboxytherapy treatments, your skin will look smoother and healthier.

Does carboxytherapy hurt?

The procedure is nonsurgical and painless, but your provider may apply topical numbing cream to the injection site to ensure your comfort. Still, you may feel a slight pinch, but the needle is ultra-thin so the treatment is well tolerated.

You won’t need any downtime, either. Make plans for lunch, return to work, or resume your normal activities immediately after your appointment.

If you’re ready to improve stubborn cellulite, stretch marks, and dark under-eye circles, call the office to schedule a carboxytherapy appointment today or request one online.
